Legal
Terms of Service
The short version
- Camplore helps you find places to camp, plan trips and keep a journal. Use it lawfully and respectfully.
- Camping information in Camplore is a guide, not a guarantee. Rules change and data can be wrong. Check posted signs and the land agency before you camp, and follow them over the app.
- You own what you add. You give us the permission we need to store it and show it to the people you choose.
- Plus and Pro subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in the App Store or Google Play, or in Link if you bought on the web.
- You can stop using Camplore and delete your account at any time.
Who we are and agreeing to these terms
Camplore is operated by Camplore LLC, a Colorado limited liability company ("Camplore", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and Camplore. By creating an account, joining a trip, or otherwise using camplore.app or the Camplore app (together, "Camplore"), you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you don't agree, please don't use Camplore.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Camplore. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give accurate information, and don't create an account for someone else or pretend to be someone you're not.
- If you open a trip invite without an account, we create a temporary guest identity for you. These terms apply to it too.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time (You → Delete account). The Privacy Policy explains what that removes.
Camping information and your safety
Camplore shows information about public land, roads, camping rules, closures, fire restrictions, weather and campsites. It comes from government datasets, other public sources, our own work and other Camplore users. We work hard to keep it accurate, but:
- It can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Land agencies change rules, close areas and issue fire bans with little notice, and maps don't always match what's on the ground.
- A site, road or area shown in Camplore, or a label like "allowed", is not permission to camp, drive or have a fire there. Posted signs, land agency orders and the law always win over the app. Check with the managing agency when it matters.
- Campsites added by other users are their own descriptions. We don't inspect or verify them.
- Camping, driving remote roads and spending time outdoors carry real risks, including weather, wildfire, wildlife, terrain, vehicle trouble and being out of reach of help. You're responsible for your own safety, your route, your vehicle, your group and your decisions. Don't rely on Camplore for navigation in an emergency.
- Follow Leave No Trace, respect private property and closures, and don't use Camplore to camp where you're not allowed.
Your content
"Your content" is what you add to Camplore: campsites, tags, ratings, trips, check-ins, journal entries, photos, videos, your profile and anything else you write or upload.
- You own your content. You give Camplore a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, display and share it, only as needed to run Camplore and to show it to the people your settings allow. For example: the people on your trip, people you share a site or link with, or everyone, for a site you make Public.
- When you delete content or your account, this license ends, except where content stays as described in the Privacy Policy. For example, a Public site you added stays on the map for others without your name, and copies already shared with other people may remain with them.
- Only add content you have the right to share. You're responsible for it, including the places you mark and what you say about them.
- We may remove or hide content, or limit an account, if we believe it breaks these terms or the law, or puts people or places at risk. People can report content in the app, and we review reports.
Things you must not do
- Break the law, or use Camplore to plan or encourage illegal camping, trespassing or damage to public land.
- Post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that infringes someone else's rights, including their privacy. Don't share someone else's location or personal details without their permission.
- Add fake campsites, ratings or reports, or deliberately mislead other campers.
- Scrape, copy or bulk-download Camplore's maps, data or other people's content, or use them to build a competing product.
- Interfere with Camplore, its security or its servers, try to reach data you're not allowed to see, or reverse engineer the app except where the law allows.
- Spam people, including through site shares and trip invites.
Camplore Plus, Pro and purchases
- Plus and Pro are optional paid subscriptions that unlock extra features. Pro includes everything in Plus. Prices and features are shown in the app before you buy.
- In the app, you buy a subscription through the App Store or Google Play, and your payment is charged to that account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and for the same period (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app or your Camplore account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- Changing plans. You can move between Plus and Pro in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Apple or Google decide when the change takes effect and handle any credit for the time left on your current plan.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
- Founding Member is a one-time purchase that gives lifetime access to Pro for as long as Camplore offers Pro. It doesn't renew. This includes Founding Members who bought when it was offered as lifetime Plus.
- Buying on the web. In some places, Founding Member and subscriptions can also be bought on camplore.app instead of through the App Store or Google Play. Web purchases are sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service: Stripe is the merchant of record, so your receipt and card statement show the purchase as sold through Link, and Stripe charges your card, works out and collects any sales tax or VAT, screens for payment fraud and handles chargebacks and payment disputes. Stripe's Link terms also apply to the purchase. Your purchase is linked to the Camplore account you're signed in with, and we unlock what you bought there. Founding Member is charged once when you confirm the purchase. A web subscription renews automatically at the same price and for the same period until you cancel it in your Link account; cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds. Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We can't issue them directly. For a web purchase, email hello@camplore.app and we'll look at it with you; you can also ask Link's support. Stripe may issue a refund itself in some cases, and any refund or cooling-off rights your local law gives you still apply.
- We may change prices or what Plus and Pro include. A price change applies from your next renewal, and Apple, Google or we will tell you about it beforehand as their rules and the law require.
Camplore's app, maps and data
Apart from your content, Camplore, including its software, design, maps, data and brand, belongs to Camplore and its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own non-commercial use, under these terms. Map data and imagery come from providers including Mapbox, OpenStreetMap contributors and U.S. government agencies, and their own terms and attributions apply.
If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its support, and where Apple's agreement and these terms differ, these terms apply to the extent the law allows.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or feedback, including as a beta tester, we may use them without paying you or owing you anything.
Changes and ending
- Camplore is still growing. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop offering Camplore. If we stop offering Plus or Pro, we'll tell you in advance.
- You can stop using Camplore at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it.
- We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Using Camplore after that means you accept the new terms.
Disclaimers
Camplore is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that Camplore or its information is accurate, complete, current, reliable, fit for a particular purpose, or available without interruption or errors. Some places don't allow these disclaimers, so parts of this may not apply to you.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Camplore won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for injury, property damage, fines, citations, towing or lost data that result from your use of Camplore or your reliance on its information. Our total liability for any claim relating to Camplore is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
You agree to cover Camplore's reasonable losses and costs from claims by others that arise from your content or from your breaking these terms or the law.
Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us at hello@camplore.app so we can try to resolve it. Any dispute that we can't resolve will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, and you and Camplore agree to their jurisdiction. If you live outside the United States, you may also have rights under your local consumer laws that these terms don't take away.
Everything else
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Camplore about Camplore.
- If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
- You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganization of Camplore.
